Get ready to embark on an unforgettable journey through Egypt’s ancient history as we explore the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple.

After crossing the majestic Nile River to the West Bank, we will venture into the necropolis of the ancient city of Thebes. Our first stop will be at the Valley of the Kings, the revered burial place of the kings of Thebes (ancient Luxor). Although guides are not allowed inside the tombs, your knowledgeable guide will provide you with essential information about the richly adorned chambers. You’ll also have the option to visit the tomb of King Tutankhamun (additional cost applies). Leaving the sandy grounds of the Valley of the Kings, we’ll proceed to the awe-inspiring Temple of Hatshepsut. This remarkable monument holds a fascinating history, and your guide will narrate the tale of Queen Hatshepsut, the renowned female ruler who cleverly posed as a male to claim the throne. Enjoy some free time to explore the temple’s vast courtyards and marvel at its intricate hieroglyphic decorations. As we head back to Luxor, we’ll make a stop at the Colossi of Memnon, standing tall and proud on the West Bank day tours, all that remains of an ancient temple complex. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to visit an alabaster factory if you wish to purchase genuine items.

Later in the afternoon, your private Egyptologist guide will accompany you to the East Bank of Luxor to visit two of Upper Egypt’s most impressive temples: Karnak and Luxor Temples. We’ll commence our tour with a visit to the Temples of Karnak. As you walk along the Avenue of Sphinx, your guide will enlighten you on the construction of the massive facade. Inside the Temples of Karnak, you’ll witness the legacy left behind by various pharaohs as the complex expanded over the centuries. As you delve deeper into the complex, you’ll journey further back in time, with some ruins dating back over 3,000 years. The Great Court and the Great Hypostyle Hall, with its astounding 134 towering columns resembling an ancient forest, will leave you in awe. At the rear of the complex lies the sacred lake, where pharaohs and their offerings to the gods were once purified. After the guided tour, you’ll have leisure time to explore further. Following this, we’ll visit Luxor Temple, once connected to Karnak Temple by a 2-kilometer-long Avenue of Sphinx, with a portion marking the temple’s entrance. Dominated by statues of the mighty warrior pharaoh Ramses II, Luxor Temple has withstood Nile floods, foreign invasions, and thousands of years of exposure to the elements. The inner walls and columns are adorned with intricate hieroglyphics, and your guide will help decipher their meanings. Discover how Alexander the Great made his mark in Luxor Temple’s history, and behold one of the original pair of obelisks—the second of which now stands on the Place de la Concorde in Paris.

Upon the conclusion of your enriching tour, we’ll transport you back to Luxor Airport to catch your departing flight, leaving you with cherished memories of your time exploring Luxor’s ancient wonders.
